INVITATION TO SATELLITE SYMPOSIUM
ISTH CONGRESS 2019 • 6 – 10 JULY 2019 • MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA

Understanding the Outcomes of Anticoagulation: Insights from the GARFIELD Registries
Saturday 6th July 2019 • 11:30 – 12:45 • Room 219/220

Dear colleagues,

It is our pleasure to invite you to our GARFIELD symposium, which will be held at the ISTH Congress in
Melbourne, Australia. The Global Anticoagulant Registry in the FIELD (GARFIELD) studies are prospective,
multicentre international registries of patients with Atrial Fibrillation (AF) and Venous Thromboembolism
(VTE), with over 50,000 and 10,000 patients enrolled, respectively. Both registries are supported by an
unrestricted research grant from Bayer AG (Berlin, Germany).

This satellite symposium will explore the following questions using data collected from both GARFIELD-AF
and GARFIELD-VTE:

• What are the differences between provoked and unprovoked VTE?
• What is the infl uence on anticoagulant treatment on outcomes (in AF and VTE)?
• How does cancer-associated thrombosis management infl uence outcomes?
• How does VTE treatment and outcomes differ between regions?

We look forward to welcoming you and your participation in this symposium.

Sincerely,
Rt Hon Professor the Lord Kakkar, Chair
